Welcome and Mission Statement

WELCOME

Pittsburgh – home to some of the world’s great inventors (George Westinghouse, for example), world-changing inventions and technologies (in the fields of robotics, autonomous vehicles, commercial radio, software, steel) and life-giving innovations (from Jonas Salk and the polio vaccine to medical devices such as brain-computer interfaces).   Pittsburgh is also home to a collegial and welcoming group of intellectual property lawyers and professionals who protect IP rights, strategize with inventors, and advocate for individuals, entrepreneurs and companies to protect and promote intellectual property and client rights, while celebrating Pittsburgh’s rich tech history and moving it forward.  That group is the Pittsburgh Intellectual Property Lawyers Association (“PIPLA”).

PIPLA’s MISSION is to support Intellectual Property professionals in the greater Pittsburgh area and beyond.   PIPLA attracts outstanding speakers from across the country to inform, educate and entertain our members on changing developments in IP law and practice, while building relationships through social events, outings and educational seminars.  PIPLA is also a forum for discussing important IP rights and issues, and a place for members to showcase their accomplishments in ground-breaking IP court cases, in the PTO, and in business and industry.
